hello … and a note

Hi, glad you found my site where I write mostly about my bread recipes  + other things I do daily to slow down a little and pare down a lot, especially on food waste and single-use plastics.  After all, we only have one earth, let’s be nice to it.

I post a mixture of my own photos and sometimes images that I really like by others, giving proper credits. Email me at {monoandco} at gmail dot com if you like me to remove the post with your image.

Thanks for stopping by.
Sandra

"Your eco friendly habits must be very restrictive, so many things cannot buy, use, eat and do, need to sacrificed a lot?" Someone who just got to know me dropped this comment. OMG, that's not how I lead my life! I always tell others adopting a green lifestyle is not about deprivation/restrictions but balance/moderation. Knowing the difference between needs and wants helps me to avoid buying useless stuff whereas setting a zero waste target is just trying to consume less resources so that the planet is in a better state for generations to come. Simply buy/use less; a green lifestyle shouldn't be complicated!
Things I do to create less trash/environmental impact during a vacation.
Extended the life of this old wool sweater by mending two small holes with an easy five-minute stitching method I learned from @bookhou Result: Saved one less trash item from going to the landfill 🌱 Gain one more top to wear 🏅
Travelling always reminds me how simple stuff makes me happy, like stepping inside a clean hotel room after a long day. To show my appreciation for the chambermaids, I also make it a point to leave our lodgings tidy during our stay. This is partly my housekeeping habit which I bring along when I am on vacation. A neat room also makes visual scanning for personal belongings much easier before checking out! Do you make your bed when on holiday? 😜
Decided to make hot lunch meals in office after eating from the same vegetarian stalls for the past few month! This one-pot meal really simple to make!
Winding down by spending quality time with my loved ones. Explored a few cafes by simply walking around the neighbourhoods with a curious mind! This one is decorated in my favourite colour!
After a few road trips and year-end meal gatherings, it's no surprise that my BMI has increased to almost 21. 😩 Though it's still within the healthy range, I prefer to keep it at 19, that's when I feel the healthiest, and more importantly, my back doesn't get hurt as easily. It took me a $70 tuina/acupuncture session to admit it's time to go back to some good life habits:
